How can we help? πŸ‘‹

What is the Speed Round?

How the Speed Round works during onboarding: rating venues, populating your map, and training your taste profile.

πŸ’‘

Quick Answer: The Speed Round shows you venues one at a time during onboarding. Rate each one based on whether you've been or not. This populates your map and helps rec'd learn your taste.

What is the Speed Round?

The Speed Round is part of the onboarding flow. rec'd shows you a series of venue cards, one at a time, and asks you to react to each one. Your ratings go straight onto your map as coloured pins, and they help rec'd understand what kind of places you like.

How it works

Each card shows a photo of a venue with its name on a pill at the bottom. Below the card, you have five rating options split into two groups:

If you haven't been:

  • Skip (fast-forward icon): You don't know this place and don't have an opinion. It won't be saved.
  • To Try (blue pin icon): You haven't been but you'd like to. This saves it as "Want to Go" on your map.

If you have been:

  • Loved it (iridescent star icon): You've been and it's one of your favourites. This saves it as "rec'd" on your map.
  • Liked It (pink thumbs up): You've been and enjoyed it. This saves it as "Liked" on your map.
  • Not a Fan (grey thumbs down): You've been and it wasn't for you. This saves it as "Not a Fan".

Getting more info

If you're not sure about a venue, tap the "i" icon in the top corner of the card. The card flips over to show the venue's name, category (e.g. "Pub"), a short description, and the postcode. Tap "Back" to flip it back and make your choice.

How many venues?

You need to rate at least 5 venues before you can move on. After 5, a "Continue" button appears. However, rec'd encourages you to rate all 20 venues for the best results. A counter at the bottom tracks your progress (e.g. "13 rated Β· 7 more for best results").

The more venues you rate, the better rec'd can personalise your map and recommendations.

What happens to my ratings?

Every rating you make during the Speed Round is treated exactly like a regular save in the app. They appear on your map as coloured pins, show up on your profile under the matching category, and contribute to the venue's overall save breakdown. You can change any of these ratings later from the venue card, just like any other save.
