How do I delete my account? – rec'd

Overview

We're sorry to see you go. If you'd like to delete your rec'd account, you can do so at any time from your profile settings. Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone.

Before you delete

When you delete your account, the following will be permanently removed:

Your profile and all personal information

Your saved places and lists

Your followers and following connections

Your taste preferences and activity history

Any recommendations you've made

This action cannot be reversed. If you change your mind later, you'll need to create a new account and start fresh.

Step-by-step instructions

Step 1: Go to your profile

Tap the Profile icon in the bottom navigation bar.

Step 2: Open Settings

Tap the Settings icon (gear/cog) in the top-right corner of your profile page.

Step 3: Go to Account settings

Scroll down and tap Account.

Step 4: Tap Delete Account

At the bottom of the Account settings, tap Delete Account.

Step 5: Confirm deletion

You'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete your account. Read the information carefully, then tap Delete My Account to confirm.

Step 6: You're done

Your account has been deleted. You'll be logged out and returned to the welcome screen.

What happens to my data?

In accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy:

Personal data is deleted from our active systems immediately

Backups containing your data are purged within 30 days

Anonymised data (which cannot identify you) may be retained for analytics and service improvement

Alternatives to deletion

Not sure if you want to delete permanently? Consider these options:

Take a break — Simply log out and come back when you're ready. Your account and saves will be waiting for you.

Update your preferences — If recommendations aren't working for you, try updating your taste preferences in Settings → Taste Preferences.

Common issues

Problem: "I can't find the Delete Account option" Solution: Make sure you're on the latest version of rec'd. Go to the App Store or Google Play and check for updates. The Delete Account option is in Profile → Settings → Account.

Problem: "I deleted my account but want it back" Solution: Unfortunately, account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You're welcome to create a new account, but your previous saves, lists, and connections cannot be recovered.

Problem: "I want to delete my account but can't log in" Solution: If you can't access your account, email data@recd.co with the email address associated with your account. We'll verify your identity and process your deletion request manually.
